Cosmetic Dentistry

Did you know that one in four of us in the UK are unhappy with our smile? With advances in modern dentistry, its no longer just a case of filling and taking out teeth. Cosmetic dentistry, or ‘aesthetic dentistry', is used as a means of improving the appearance of teeth. Used to straighten, reshape, lighten and repair teeth, cosmetic dentistry should always aim to produce natural-looking results for patients. Our wide range of effective cosmetic treatments can help you with your discoloured, worn, chipped or crooked teeth.

Veneers

If your front teeth are stained, chipped, or malaligned, veneers will give a good life-like appearance with minimum tooth adjustment.

A veneer is a porcelain facing on the front of your teeth, usually your top teeth. It is just like a false finger nail.

Veneers are made out of porcelain and are used mainly for aesthetic reasons.

Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy, and because they are very thin and are held in place by a special strong bond (rather like super-glue) very little preparation of the tooth is needed.

Porcelain veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of teeth. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured or stained tooth or to lighten front teeth (usually the upper ones) generally.

Veneers can also be used to close small gaps, when orthodontics (braces) are not suitable.

If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with the others.

Injection Moulded Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are created by the dentist injecting the resin on to the teeth through a custom-made stent which has been created from a 3D printed model of the patient’s bespoke smile design. This technique ensures a predictable outcome for the patient and an outstanding aesthetic result.

Composite veneers can be used to transform a smile by modifying and enhancing the shape and colour of teeth as well as restoring chipped, worn or broken teeth. They can also be used where there are minor mis-alignments of teeth, to give the appearance of straighter teeth.

This latest technique does not require the conventional drilling or preparation of teeth, in the majority of cases. And It can be completed in a single appointment without the need for any local anaesthetic.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is the safest and most cost effective way of enhancing the appearance of your teeth. Teeth discolouration responds extremely well to whitening treatment, removing stains on teeth caused from fizzy drinks, coffee, smoking, wine and other food. The non-surgical dental treatment is pain free and will leave you with beautiful teeth that are many shades whiter!

Whitening treatment lifts off stains from the enamel and works by allowing a very small amount of bleaching gel to come in to contact with the teeth. The gel then reacts with the surface of the tooth, gently removing stains.

We offer both custom made home whitening kits as well as in Surgery Zoom Whitening treatments using the latest LED light technology.

Why not treat your teeth to a whitening treatment and give your smile a renewed sparkle?

Composite bonding

Composite bonding is the use of composite material that is then bonded to reshape, rebuild, or fill damaged teeth. It is a very simple and minimally invasive cosmetic procedure to improve the aesthetics of your smile if you have any small gaps, chips or worn teeth. This treatment also has a huge amount of potential for different kinds of repairs.

The treatment itself can normally be done in just one appointment with your dentist. First, your dentist will match the colour of the composite resin with the rest of your teeth. This ensures that the smile will be consistent and look as natural as possible. The resin will then be placed onto the required tooth and moulded into the correct shape. By 'bonding' tooth-coloured composite material to your existing teeth the shape, size and profile of your teeth can be positively transformed. It is usually a pain-free procedure as in most cases the teeth themselves do not need to be drilled in order to bond the material.

White Fillings

In the past, fillings were made from either gold or a silver-coloured alloy called amalgam. Although these materials are extremely durable, the main disadvantage is that they don’t match the natural white teeth in appearance.

Also known as composite fillings, white fillings are made from tooth-coloured material that restore the appearance of a previously filled tooth, giving your teeth a more natural look.

A completely safe procedure, this can be used for new fillings or to replace any old metal fillings, giving your teeth a more natural overall appearance.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge fixes an artificial tooth (or teeth) to natural teeth on one or both sides of a gap.

Some bridges have crowns at each end that fit over the natural teeth; others are fixed to the surface of the teeth next to the gap. Each bridge is carefully hand crafted by a skilled technician to emulate the natural teeth as closely as possible.

A dental bridge may take the place of one or more missing teeth and the results can be excellent with good function and aesthetic results. With careful maintenance, a well-made bridge can last many years.
